More on the Club.
This extract is from an original club programme in the 1980's
"The St Ives Camera Club was formed on February 14th 1977.
Black & White photography was the main focus at the time with some colour slides. Competitions, speakers and exhibitions featured on the early programmes. The venue was the St Ives Community Room, at the Guildhall, where members met twice monthly and the annual fee for the room was just £32.
The aim of the Club, as outlined in the Constitution, was, Quote: ‘”Advance and Encourage the Art and Science of Photography by Lectures, Demonstrations, Competitions, Exhibitions etc., and to enjoy the pleasures. Visitors to be made welcome at all meetings.“
Priceless!.... The meaning is obvious and delightful, but is the wording just a touch.... "stern"?
From the outset though,..... the St Ives Camera Club has been, and still is, a very happy, friendly and enthusiastic Club.
Currently membership is £32 for the season, (but is adjusted pro rata for those joining part way through the year) plus £1 per evening which includes a raffle ticket! Tea and coffee with biscuits half way through the evening is available should you want refreshment at 50p.
On some evenings we have special guest speakers. On these evenings there will be an additional £2 entry fee; but the tea and biscuits are free!
